- Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historical "I Have a Dream" speech on 1963 in front of the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. If you could give an "I have a Dream" speech, what would you say?

Injustice
Why are people still dying in the Iraq War? War is never a solution; it is an aggravation, even though fighting is not a solution for everything. The world is for everyone to share; nevertheless the ones who have more power don’t share it. People who have no fault are the ones who try to resolve what they didn’t make. Why do those who create wars not think about how terrible and difficult to going to war to fight and maybe die? War is a tradition for those who keep going and don’t stop. Why don’t we work together? Stopping war is life, stopping war is justice, stopping war is happiness, and stopping war is peace.
There are many soldiers that fight in Iraq War but don’t know if they will make it back home alive. Moreover they kill many innocent people that are not involucrate. When there is a war lives are affected, homes are destroyed by weapons and bombs. How can the government disregard the lives of innocent men, woman, and children? The lives of those people who die is more valuable than what they are fighting for. Imagine there is no one to defend this country because they all were killed by the Iraq War, then who is the government going to send to war? Obviously the ones who go to war and die never get what they went for.
That is injustice that more than millions of people suffer from the Iraq War. We, united, can stop the Iraq War; we the people have the power to stop the Iraq War, but only united. Why must I dream what ought to be reality? We were born to die but when God wants to take ours lives. I don’t want segregation in this world because it motivates violence and wars. We have to be united to share with others what we have that others don’t. “When the rich wage war, it's the poor who die”. If there were no one having more than others there weren’t wars but occasionally the world have differences. I will see in my dream no segregation, no violence, no war because the rich is going to share with those who need they are going to recognize how the people work united for all of us.

I have a dream
I am happy to be here today with you to talk about all the issues and all the dreams that I have and you have, and I will like to share with you people
Today is a day that we are going to make history, because today me and you people are going to say whatever we want. I have a dream that one day black people will be treat the same way as the white people. I wish that one day America will have a good democracy, because I don’t my family and you people to be treating as slaves. I wish that one day the black people will be treating fairly and that they could fight for their rights of be treating as others.
So as I say will like to say my people treat as well as the white, and know that when I die a lot of people will be happy but don’t worry one of you will do the same of what I’m doing. So I tell you now that don’t be afraid of take what is yours

We still Haven’t Reached the Mountaintop.
In Martin Luther King Jr.’s last speech “I See the Promised Land (I’ve Been to the Mountaintop)” he said “And I’ve looked over. And I’ve seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people will get the Promised Land.” Although he died long time ago, we haven’t got the Promised Land yet.
I have a dream today, my dream is to get the Promised Land which a lot of people think is very far away and hard to reach, but that’s not true because if all of us get together to fight for our equal rights we can get to the Mountaintop as Martin Luther King Jr. also wanted to reach.
In the “I Have a Dream” speech he said “I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judge by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.” I think that he meant by this phrase is that when the racism is finally abolished we as minorities will be provided with the liberty, justice and the pursuit of happiness. It means that when we get to the Promised Land we will not be judge by our color, race, by the language we are born with or sex, we will be judge by what we do. Also we will be judge by the good or bad actions that we chose.
The day in which we reach the Promised Land will be a day that Martin Luther King Jr. will be remember because he was the one who guide us to get to the top. The mountaintop is where the minorities of America will have the same rights as the majorities. This means that they are going to be treated with equal rights that they are going to stop being discriminated because of their color, race, sex, and by the language that they are born with.
I want this dream to become true because when this happen is when all the people in the United States are going to be treated the same, when my dream come true is the day when all the people who have fight to have equal rights are going to be happy because for them it is going to be the day in which they made justice. When this happen as Martin Luther King Jr. said in the last part of “I Have a Dream” speech “Free at last” are the only words that this people would say.

SOMETHING SPECIAL 02/10/08
Freedom is something with which all human born. It is called a natural right. It was not made to be taken from us like if we were nothing. I cannot say like animals because the animals are free too. Human can reasoning and that is the difference between human and animals. I do not understand why some persons think that they are more than us and that is not true. No body is more or less than us.
All human are the same because there are facts that support it DO YOU CAN SEE? DO YOU CAN HEAR?, DO YOU CA SMELL?, DO YOU CAN TASTE?, DO YOU CAN FEEL?. I hope yes but if not that is not a reason why you are less than me or than him or her you are always the same as us. Whatever your color is, whatever your religion is whatever your beliefs are that is not a reason to be more or less than any human in the world.
But think my friend if you were a person who is a handicap person, if you were a person who has IHV, if you were poor how would you want to be treated? That’s the question. When all of us understand it and make it works we will know how the Promised Land is. That is my way to think.

The United States is been a nation that looks perfect, but the reality, sexism and also the war in Iraq are some of the most important problems. "A perfect thing, can be the worst thing. Many people come to this country to work and the results is that they are discriminate.
Racism is a real problem to the country citizen making people feel bad for been discriminate as your language, race or each of us have the right to have our own language race whatever and without been discriminate.
Discrimination is not only with black people the discrimination United State is happen against people who don't have your same economic level, against immigrant people therefore discrimination is against all the people who are not like them.
Some people say that "where is the discrimination." The people make a big issue out of anything". But what happen is that you could not see the violence and discrimination but if you don't see it, doesn't mean it wont exist.
Paloma,
You are right war is a tradition where a few people get rich and many die! It was an wonderful speech!
Mr. PPD
German,
Very nicely done, but I feel that you wrote the speech as you were Martin Luther King Jr. and not German Polanco. But you are right we need to take what is ours:
"Power conceeds nothing without demand. It never has and it never will"
Frederick Douglas
Mr.PPD
Ambar,
You need to read "The People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn. I have it!
Mr. PPD
Genesis Pena,
When you said in class"but we haven't reached the promise land yet" it was one of the most enlighted things I have ever heard!
Mr.PPD
Daniel,
You should read John Locke! You sound just like him! Well done!
Mr.PPD
Pimentel,
You were very passionate, but what is your vision for the future? Economic differences(classism or class warfare, along xenophobia, sexism, and racism are real problems in the United States today!
Well Done

I Thought About This
I have heard, and seen some of the United States problems, and this country is on danger, and I have thought about this. This problem has been here on this country sense Martin Luther King Jr. But he had another thing to think about, we haven’t pay attention to this but we have to start.
I have thought about this, every one is complaining but no one does something about in and its time. One of this major problem are gangs, and where does this gangs start on schools because schools supplies and friends the don’t has influence that why they join gangs. People think is not a big deal but it is and it time, the Boston Police have to be careful with kids and some adults because they are becoming the problem of Boston and the country. I haven’t seen some gangs attack other person, I haven’t seen it, but I have experience have does it feel, and how other people feel, and it do not good. That it not a very good experience. Think about this.
These problems are affecting this country, but if these problems are affecting this country why don’t they try to stop it? I’m not trying to get attention of offence anyone but we have

The Biggest Issue in the United State of America
I’ am going to write about the biggest issue in United State, the discrimination and how we can stop the discrimination and like that don’t hurt the others people.
WHAT DOES DISCRIMINATION MEANS? Discrimination means when a person is treated less favorably than others. In a comparable situation, because of they’re racial, or ethnic, origin, religion or belief, disability age or sexual orientation. Why does white people discriminate black people? Because they are poor, or because they doesn’t have the same color of your skin? Is not true because we were created for one-man god. All the people are the same no matter your color of your skin, how you are or your personality is and not matters where you come from. For example of direct discrimination is a job advert, which says, “no disabled people need apply”. However in reality discrimination often takes more subtle form. That’s why indirect discrimination is also covered.
My dream is to stop the discrimination I don’t know how this people don’t know how to stop the discrimination. But martin Luther king jr. died fighting for the right of the black people. And he fight spears the death and he was very brave and he fought by the right of the others. I am of the people who admire Dr. Martin Luther King. United State need to do something to stop the discrimination, I don’t know how, but this issue is affecting a lot of people because they are being discriminated by the same citizens of their countries where they live. All human being have the right of freedom of speech. We are in this world to fight for the rights like humans as we are. So, that the entire people equal does not concern the color, your inside, outside. It doesn’t matter where you come, from Russia, Africa or china we are the same people. I have a dream, that the discrimination finishes and that no person must cover the face from the person who watch like if we were animals.
It is important to follow the example of Martin Luther King Jr. that we need to fight for our dreams. That is why all the people must stand together to stop the segregation and the discrimination between the Americans and Black people. My dream is to finish the big violence that is happening in this country.
THIS ISSUE SHOULDN’T BE THE BIGGEST ONE TO THE CONTRARY THE SMALLEST ONE!
"I have a dream" that descrimination has to end.
In the united states is a lot issues that has to end, Consequently in my opinion the most important is descrimination for the immagrants for many reasons.First than all some americans said that that the immagrants are criminals and that's not true. The true is that the immagrants come to this country for a better job, education, in general for a better life.
The reason why the immagrants come to this country is because in their culture they don't have a good job to support their families, and because they have economic problems etc.
the immagrants don't come to this country because they want to come, the come to united states because they have to,and they have families to take care.
Finally the immagrants come to United States to progress and find a better life.

Luis,
Very inspiring (not sense, since)! Violence, racism and poverty walk the same path. Perhaps, violence and gangs are the only way some young people feel that they have a medium for friendhip, expression and doing something that they think they are good at it. Don't you think that it could be a cry for help? We need to get these young people along people like you to take action! Republicans and Democrats in office either don't care or simply can't relate to them! We need to take action!
Well done!
PPD
Yessica,
You are correct! Martin Luther King Jr. didn't fight for the rights of African Americans only! As you said it doesn't matter if you are from Russia, China or South Africa. It doesn't matter if you are Catholic, Mormon, Evangelical, Jewish, Muslim or an atheist! All men (and women) were "created" equal, we must be treated based on our characters and not on our differences!
Well done
PPD
Karen,
Not all Americans think IMMIGRANTS (spelling) are criminals! Let's not stereotyped (MLK would be against that)!
Karen you wanted to say economic conditions and not culture! What about non-immigrants? What about discrimination towards African-Americans? Poverty??????
A dream is broad!!!!!!!!!

Well if give one day a speech this are the words that I would say..:
PEACE_IS_LOVE...
"I have a dream" but it was a long dream were I see a different word, it was beautiful without violence, crime, abuse, no war, no hate, equal right for all , without think that the others people are less than other. Why do you think that so many slave fought for their rights , it was because they get tired of been abused by others, when it doesn't matter where are you from , your religion , your race and etc.. they discovered that the things that real matter is who are you , and what are your values. everybody had been born to do something in the word maybe you are not good in something, but in another things you can be the best one.
The word can be so beautiful and with so many positive things if in this word there not exist that violence that now you can see in every part of the word , every-time somebody kill another without reason , or the domestic violence for the children's development and the people in the house is so bad , because them they growth up with violence and problems , and they can get into drugs or been criminals , we have to growth as people that we are and not stay like that. We have to defend our word and covert it into a word of peace , we have to safe our environment , for we can have a great future and have a family . We can't live our life's fighting and going to wars to fight with other people ..
Everybody born equal , that someone have born without leg , fingers or something like that doesn't make then another kind of humans or make then animals , the money is maybe a part of us ... but if we don't have love , peace and positive things to give to the others people, we don't have nothing to give , finally that all this poverty had been done , and there wasn't kids, teenagers and adults that don't have to be with that hungry everyday of their life .. " I have a dream" that I wish one day it come to be true because like that we can have a great life and a great word to live and we can make true the mission that God give to us , to make the word each one of our days better for we can cultivate a word with peace, love, freedom, and a democratic word that everybody can express their opinions and ideas without the other people leafing about what they say.

My speech is goin to talk about violence.Violence is one of the biggest issues n Unites State.Violence is a problem that we all can stop but some peple don't help.violence comes from adults to kids and all they need is attention to stot it when some family never have attention for their kids bad stuff begin to happen. Some tenaggers do'nt get attention by their family they end by doin stuff. One of the stuff is getting in to gans and star killing and doing things tha they don't even want to do.This thing are create from us and i know that if kids get more attention this kind of stuff can stop.
Anther reason why i think violence is one of the biggest issues in Unites States is because it not only because of the gans and killing is because people in the streets offer kids drugs and the drugs make kids to do thing that they don't even want to do like smoke and drink. But now my question is why people create stuff that kill people if they want to see everyone healthe?.Everithin is create and part of it take us down. And my dream is make this better and i know we can...
nin0sHka hUertas
Ninoshka,
Thanks for posting your speech! It was very personal and passionated! I agree we need to look at our family system. If the family is broken down because of poverty, drugs or violence (or a combination of all three), then our society will fail and we will not reach the promised land.
