In my opinion I think that minority groups such as Latino and African Americans and poor people don't vote because they think they are not worth vote for a President because lately the Presidents don't worry about the people and I think they are dissapointment and they don't want to vote anymore.

Other reason that the Latino and African Americans and poor people don't vote is because they know the presidents and they know is going to be the same because they always make promises that they don't meet and they are always make falses statements.

To conclude, my last opinion about why I think Latinos and African Americas and Poor people don't choose to vote is because like that they can save time and because, who want to wake up early to go to vote and after the President is going to steal everything??? nobody. Thast's why i think that those people prefer to stay in home that go to vote for a President that is not going to worry about them...

First of all for make people to show up and vote the most important thing that we need is time and patience because we have to give the people the time to think and make them sure that is good to vote for a president.

Second we have to make more interesting campaigns to attract people and make them feel more exciting about votes and political parties and like that they are going to have more desire to vote .

Finally, we have to think about to make the people vote. Because it not only depend on them it depend on the President too and about their behave and how they treat the citizens so.. I was thinking that the President should change the way they lead the country and they have to try to win the confidence of the people and then the citizens are going to trust in the President again!.

Answer #1:

In my opinion most of the Latin, African Americans and poor people do not vote for many reasons that I perfectly agree with them. Some of them are the following:

1. They do not have more hopes (they do not believe in the politician promises.)
2. They think that nothing is going to change for them while the white man is governing, and has the power
3. Politicians may administer the money for their own benefit instead helping the needed ones.
4. They don’t give the same rights.
5. They think that is a waist of time
6. from fear and more many things...

The reasons why are:

They do not have more hopes because through the years happened every story of politics is worst for example now In the united states are two major political parties that are Republicans and Democrats both of them always tell things and more things that they really don’t fulfill what they every time promises for example, they promise that the next government is going to be better than the other “We promise you that this is going to be the best party ever” something that is not true. Another example, that they are going to end with the poverty and they are going to help the people who need it , and things that they causes that a country loses the hopes to vote by which president is going to represents their country.

They think that nothing is going to change for them.Latin’s may not vote because some of them are discriminated by the Americans in the United States. The African- Americans because in the united state (everywhere) exist a lot of racism the poor people because the some of the politics think that because you are a people of low resources you are less than them. And moreover because like I said much of the times they tell that everything is going to change and get solved but everything stay the same.

They don’t know how to administrate the money, Politicians take part of the money which suppose to be used to help people with education, new hospital system, and more other things that poor people needs. But they used it at their best convenience. That money comes from taxes that people pay, Latin people, black people as well as other groups of people in the USA.

They don’t give then the rights that they want to have and some times it doesn’t matter if you are citizens of the united state but if you are Latin some rights are not given to you, and much more to the poor people only because people some of the people are poor they give then less importance just because they are poor, the to African-Americans they either give the same rights or the rights that they had to have just because their kind of skin like for example , in the past just because a people was black it could be seated in the part that he want he have to seat in the back like if then were some kind of rats that are going to affect the other people , well that know is not like that but it exist the discrimination like the racism too, the Latinos the African-American and poor people don’t vote because it does not matter how strong do they work , what they do is nothing for some people and they do not value it as they have to and they do not give same the rights them that to (With)- Americans and the Latinos , Poor people , and African- Americans get disillusion.

They think that is a lost of time to vote for someone who you don’t know if it going to be worst or better than the last president that for you maybe was a disaster, for example in the Dominican Republic are two major party that are the PLD and PRD some of the people like PLD but in the other side there are people who do not like it and prefer the other party that is the PRD and people who don’t like any of them because they think that they are just doing things that do nor help their our country.

From fear because the Africans Americans have different kind of skin and in the united state and other country they receive so much racism and discrimination from the others they don’t feel that the people respect then and they think that the decisions or rules that a president can put is going to harm them and they want to vote for a black president that is going to give then the rights that they want to have and more many things.

To conclude, the Latin, Africans Americas and poor people have so many reasons why they do not vote for a president in United State and in other places and who I ready said I support the reasons why they do not want a president for represent them.

Answer #2:

That is not my business (sorry) but is necessary to put a plan because although it does not vote on the one hand it is very important to vote by the person that your you think that it can improve your country or the country where you live. The plan that is would do is to the people and not just for poor people if not for the people who do not vote:

1. Demonstrated the government that they really care about their people.
2. May a campaign that attracts people.
3. fulfill what we promised to the people and more many things for proved the people that it is worth the trouble to vote by which represents to us honestly and proudly.

The reasons Why:

1. Demonstrated to the government that you really care about then is a good way to make then vote because by that way they are going to see that it is worth the trouble to vote by that party that really is going to help then in the things that a community needs.
Demonstrated them with made the things and no single with words.

2. May campaigns that attracts the people for they get more interested and say “let see what is new maybe it is better than the others is” and the people and because they used a convincing argument.

3. Fulfill their promises for proved the people that it is worth the trouble to vote by which represents to us honestly and proudly , and they trust in what they said in that way almost everybody is going to vote because they are sure for who they are voting.

To conclude, this is the plan that I would do for the people get more interesting to vote, it maybe help for we can have a better government and less corruption.

1) Why you think Latino and African Americans and poor people do not chose to vote?

In my opinion the Latino, Africans and poor people do not vote because many times they do not know what the politics are? Because may be they are from countries which do not know how educate people respect to politics or sometimes they do not know how to vote. “En cuanto” to poor people they may be do not have the adequate education to know how important the vote is. Sometimes they do not vote because although they vote the country always is the same justice, economy or politics. It is the more important thing I think they do not make the vote.

I think other reason why they do not vote is because they have different cultures and not just it if not that they do not have the sufficient mind to know they can be the change in this country. Other reason is because maybe they think that for be other race the people from here wont tomaran en cuenta to them.

2) How you think you can encourage all Americans to vote (what can the we do to make sure that people show up to vote during elections).

Well my encourage to them is:

1- Stop, think about it. How you can change the politic from a country depend on what political party you choose. But anyways a country depend on the way the president control the system and how we will know if they really will get better our country or not. May be that is the answer why they do not vote for a political party.
2- Come on people think our country need your vote to get better the politics in this country. It is not true because that major part of president only want the power to get be rich or “reconocido”.

I THINK THE POLITICS ARE ALWAYS CORRUPT. IT IS MA WAY TO THINK.

I Think the Africans Americans, Latino and poor people don't vote during elections for presidente because they start to making promises, and never meet for example: they said that they going to help the people in differents way, and thy never do anything. other example is my mother that she always making promises for me but she never do anything.

Other reason the Africans Americans,Latinos and poor people don't vote during elections because the people know how the political parties are, and the people don't believe that the politicos said, and the people think in the last man that was running for president he start to make promises and he did nothing, so they think that man who is running for president now will be
the same.

Finally to conclude this people has so many reasons for don't vote everybody has differents ways to think........

In my opinion I think that minority groups such as Latinos, African Americans and poor people who are citizens do not vote because as they are minority groups, they think that their vote is not going to make any difference. Also they don’t vote because in this country there are not equal rights to the minority group, so the Latinos, African American and poor people don’t want to vote because any government that would be chosen in the United States of America will treat them in the same way. I think that another problem is the discrimination because the minority groups of this country would think that they would be discriminated when they go to the place indicated to vote.

A plan that I would make to encourage poor people and minorities to go and vote is that if they want a government that they think would give them equal rights, they have to vote. Although if the minorities in this country think that their vote wouldn’t make any difference, that’s not true. For example, Hillary Clinton is a candidate that is running to be president in the next elections. If they want Hillary to be their president they have to vote for her because if they don’t vote she is not going to be the president because the vote that they didn’t give would make the difference in the quantities of votes in the way that there would be less votes for her. This would be my plan to encourage the minorities groups of this country such as Latinos, African Americans and poor people to vote for their favorite candidate.

A lot of people in the united state don’t vote such as Latinos, Africans Americans and poor people. I think that some Latinos don’t vote for a lot of reason. First of all, some Latinos don’t vote because they are afraid of what Americans can said or because they are Naturalize citizens and they must know that’s not the only citizen that born in united state can be president and they don’t vote. Some must think that their vote is not important to Americans because they are of another culture. Some must not vote because they don’t like electoral collage system because if they vote for bush and al gore won because the majority of the people vote for him and he won the state they must think that it would be for the person that they don’t like that is al gore so they must think that is more better use their time in another things to do and not loosing their time in something that it would be good in her/he side and bad because it would not if majority of people vote for al gore.

Some of the reason that poor people don’t vote is because the time, they work hard and don’t have sufficient time to go and vote because they are so poor that they spend their time working 12 hours or 10 etc. sometime is because the money taking taxi or wasting their gasoline in something that they think Is unimportant and it is not going to resolve they problem. Some Latinos or Africans Americans citizens don’t vote because they think that they don’t have the rights to vote in different countries or in a country that are not their culture. Some just don’t vote because don’t like the candidate that are running as presidents. Some others don’t vote because they don’t agree with either of them such as Democrats and Republicans. Finally some people don’t really vote because they are lazy and don’t want to go because they want to sleep or watch TV.

To encourage people to vote we need to put a commercial about people that should vote and why they should vote. For example people should vote because they are the power of the community of the country and the world the have rights to take decisions of this country and make this country more better and we can do it by voting and letting us be the one who would make this country more better

1)In my opinion I think that the La tinos, africans americans and the poor people don't choose to vote because they think that their vote dosn't have enough value for the president so I think that's why they all choose to don't loose the time doing something that the president do not care about so that why they deside to not vote.

another reason why they don't vote is because they always be saying stuff that they are never going to do.

And the last reason why they don't vote is because they aredy know how political parties are in the election they are exactly as always making promes to never make them.

1) well mr.Dilley i think that Latinos and African Americans did not vote.because they may think that all candidant would't do anything of what they say on their campeans and i think that with all had seen during all this time i think that that's why they don't vote, or maybe it's because they don't want to waste their time voting for someone that would't do nathing for the people.

2) what i think i can do to make the people show up to vote is talk to them and tell it that if they don't vote maybe the bad guy could win and their vote may cahnge that and the good guy can win but lets be serious not always.because if we realize Bush didn't win by the votes he win because the republicans sheet.but anyways that's how i think i can make the people to show up to vote

1) Why do you think Latino, African-Americans and poor people do not vote?

2) What can we do to encourage people to vote?
Dales mas ayuda y ayúdalos mas y dale mas trabajo latinos, afro-americanos y para los pobres dale dinero y comida para que puedan votar y A los latino dale papeles aloque no tienen así pueden votar.

What amazing and powerful points. It was amazing as usual.

Now, let me give you my opinion about voting. It is my opinion that both parties are actually one big lie. But what are we going to do about it? We need Latino, African-American, poor (there are millions of poor white people), working classes of all races to get together and begin a political party revoultion. Not too kill anyone! What I mean is that we need many political parties, but we must start by making a "second one"!

A+ because I cannot give you a higher grade. Actually, there is nothing I can give you in the gradebook that reflects your critical thinking, hardwork and kindness!

Mr. PPD

PS. Keep writing as much as you want I love reading every second of it!!!!!!!!

You made a good point. Minorities and the poor can't complain about presidents if they don't show up to vote. Now, think about this: We might have discrimination and inequality and end of welfare, because the people who need government the most and change the most do not vote. Life is not fair!

Mr. PPD

Mr. Pitts-Dilley said...

Paloma,

you covered all the reasons about why people do not vote: from laziness to many feelings of being powerless, to the dislike for the electoral college to the dislike of both Republicans and Democrats. Perhaps, what we need to encourage people to vote is to lead them to see the relationship between politics and their lives and that if people do not vote and start to make changes, then nothing will ver change. Remember what Frederick Douglas said:

"Power Conceeds nothing without deman. It never has and it never will"!

On the United Sates people don’t vote because of what the campaign offer them, they think the nothing on the campaign will help them process in their life or to make a better life on this country so they just stay home and watch who wins in Television there no different for them, the campaign only help white people, so that why they don’t vote

Every African-American, Latino , and poor citizen have a good reason for not voting some of them say the they don’t vote because they don’t want other say the they don’t got nothing for them so what the difference, other say they don’t got the time to do that. And they all say that because they feel discriminator about what other people say, sometimes even racism, Americans sometimes think the because they are Americans they can’t do whatever they want to do, but Latinos, poor, and African-Americans feel on another way, so on campaign they just put what benefic the government not the people, that’s why only little people vote on the United States, And that’s not fair.

To make the all people vote they have to put laws for them and the really benefic everyone and everywhere like on Connecticut they are giving licensed to drive to some people so they can help the community and be a more responsible person and they are giving the permission to drive to illegal immigrants because illegal immigrants come to this country to have a better life and the government of Connecticut realized what the immigrant are passing through, they should put more of those laws and the government should think about other people, so this country could be a democracy (the government of the PEOPLE) and put some better country leaders that make good decision like the reading says.

They should make on every states different laws, so like that they could have people going to the place they want and what benefic them and their family, and campaigns should try bring the attention to those people the don’t vote and put things that would interest them more like more jobs for poor people, and no racism or discrimination against Latino and African-American citizens and immigrants and maybe candidates go to every states and hear what the people has to say about their community and them make their move to win more people and maybe send letter for does people the don’t vote and ask their opinion and what they want. Maybe I think that like that people would get interest it and vote for who they think is better and like that every would vote.

benefic (benefit)

White people are also discriminated. What about the millions of poor whites? Working class whites?

In my opinion I think that poor people, Latinos and African Americans don’t vote, because back in the other times they could not vote because they were black no Americans and they were not rich people. I think that they think that their opinion is no valuable and that even if they vote presidents are going to do the same thing. Also African Americans, poor people Latinos are very discriminate here in the U.S.A and presidents don’t do anything about that.

In my opinion what can candidates can do to encourage Latinos, poor people and African Americans to vote is to show them that candidates can be better by helping them doing campaigns that they talk about the discrimination that people do to them and providing more jobs to the poor people.
