9.5 Scribes: Jonatan
9.6 Artisans: Laura (Maite)
9.7 Peasants: Steven

Each of you is responsible to answer the following questions:

1. Are there any vocabulary words? What do they mean?
2. What did your group do (describe their job)?
3. Were they rich, middle class or poor? How do you know?
4. Could your group work hard to become a higher group? Explain.
5. How were their homes (describe them)?
6. What did your group usually eat?
7. Did your group have power? Explain.
8. In your opinion was Egyptian society fair to your group? Why or why not?

We will work in class today and tomorrow. We will use this information to complete the first online question for term 4 (online question assigned as homework).

Good luck and ask for help if you need it.

There will be questions that you will not be able to respond, because the book does not provide the information. Just say “information not available”.

Don’t forget to use Microsoft Word or Word Pad before you submit your answer.

Government Official

1. Vizier: One of the government officials with more power.
Alliance: agreement to work together.

2. What government official do was to assist the pharaoh. A vizier advised the pharaoh and tells the pharaoh’s commands. The chief treasurer looks after the government wealth. In addition, the general of the armies advised the pharaoh in matter of war.

3. Government officials were rich. I know because the book says that they work for the pharaoh.

4. No, because if government officials worked hard they are going to be pharaohs and they cannot be pharaohs.

5. Their houses are big and beautiful.

6. Government officials usually eat “cook roasted ducks, geese, pigeons, quail, antelope, wild sheep…” fancy food.

7. Yes, government officials have power. They have power because some of them usually come from the pharaoh’s family. Viziers were powerful because the book says that the viziers had more power than anyone else except the pharaoh did.

8. Yes, they had everything the wanted. Government officials are rich.

steven castillo Peasants 4/ 7 / 09

I learned that farmine means a severe shortage of food.

I learned that the Peasants jobs was to grow the crops that supplied everyone with food.

I learned that Peasants were poor. Because as a reward for their hard work, they were allowed to gather up as much left over grain as they could and keep it for food.Thats was their reward gathering foodbut not getting any money.

I learned that Peasants need to work hard and bring food to the pharaoh in order to go to a higher group.

I learned that the Peasants home was a simple house made of mud bricks.Their furniture was usally limited to woven mats.

I learned that Peasants had a typical meal that might include onions, cucumbers, fish, homemade bread, and water or beer.

I think it's not fair because Peasants don't have any money as a reward just food.

Artisans

1.Imformation not available.
2.My group made beautiful status,royal tomb,and other monuments.Their
job was to make great sculpture of people and pharaohs. They use the rock
named "Dolerite" to make the sculpture.
3.They are middle class.I know because how the pyramid is organized its
like in the middle of all the pyramid.
4.If my group work harder they will not become a higher group.Like if
the keep doing art and beautiful sculptures they will still be
artisans.
5."Their houses were usually rectangular and barely 10 yards long.Three
rooms stretched from front to back. The first room was use either as a
workroom or to house animals. The living room came next. The final room
was divided into a kitchen and a bedroom. The roof was sometimes use as a
place to work or sleep.
6.Imformation not available.
7.My group had the power to make beautiful sculptures for the pharaoh
and some people in Egypt.
8.Egyptian society was fair to my group they respected them. Why?Because
the Egyptian society treated them with respect and the artisans treated
them with respect to.My group work 10 days straight with out taking a
break. And they didn't bother anyone they just make great art for pharaoh
and people.
